Hogarth came down to the festival to do some flyering for a folk festival that his organisation was putting together. He enjoyed everything about Wilderness, including the relaxed atmosphere, whilst feeling that the festival "does exactly what it says on the tin."

Sunday Wilderness Festival - WinkBall reporter Matt

Event Date: 15/08/2011

Saima, Nia and Matt were in the great parks of Cornbury Estate in Oxford for Wilderness Festival on the 12th to 14th August 2011. This unique experience lays out a banquet table fit for all Kings and Queens of all ages. A truly intellectual escapade for the intrepid reveller, Wilderness is "a pioneering new festival of music, food, learning and rejuvenation" with the psychedelic edge of freedom and beauty. Those lucky enough to get their hands on the tickets were in for a real treat as the spirit of the 60's flowed through the outdoor banquet of Michelin Star winner Skye Gyngell, with her Petersham Nurseries Cafe and the well travelled entourage of Sam and Sam Clarke who created the Southern Mediterranean taste of Moro. Setting the musical scene come the prolific and life affirming Antony and the Johnsons, supported by the likes of Gogol Bordello, Toots and the Maytals, Guillemots, Hayseed Dixie and Daniel Johnston with The Low Anthem. Away from the artistic creative and onto the intellectual, there were speeches from lecturers, philosophers and authors as part of open debates hosted by Intelligence Squared, "the world's leading forum for live debate," while on the spiritual level there were workshops dedicated to meditation by Headspace, and the ethos of 'idling' was exposed by the British magazine The Idler. To top all that exquisite festivity off, Wilderness also had a spa. Jealous is the man or woman who did not attend.
