Winkball citizen video reporters were at The Palace Theatre in Manchester on Monday 21st February for the opening night of Calendar Girls. With a new all-star ensemble cast featuring the likes of Lynda Bellingham, Jennifer Ellison and Lisa Riley, the stage adaptation of the hit film promises laughter and inspiration. Based on a true story surrounding a Yorkshire Women's Institute, the audience follow their controversial quest to release a nude calendar in order to raise money for charity. The stage version first began in 2008, and its latest line-up looks to further strengthen the Calendar Girls story. Winkball reporters were present to speak to theatre-goers and some of the performers before and after the show, gathering expectations and reviews. The opening night went down a storm! Manchester performances run until Saturday 26th February, before the cast continue the tour via Southend-On-Sea, Leeds, Sunderland, Milton Keynes and Birmingham. Were you at the show tonight?
